Come hungry!
Tel Aviv market food tour
A private tasting tour of the Carmel or Levinsky market, one bite at a time, with a local guide who knows every stall
2 hours · Private

The best way to understand Israel is to eat it
Israeli food tells the story of the people who brought it here: from Yemen and Morocco, Iraq and Iran, the Balkans and Eastern Europe. The markets are where all of those stories meet.
We'll taste our way through the stalls and the families behind them, and talk about where Israeli cuisine comes from and where it's going. It's my favorite way to start a trip, and the one I take my own friends on.
What we'll taste
Straight from the oven
Flaky burekas still warm, and breads baked the way they have been for generations.
The classics, done right
Fresh falafel and hand-made hummus from the people who've perfected them.
Something to drink
Fresh juices, local craft beer or boutique Israeli wine, depending on the hour and your mood.
Two markets to choose from
The bustling Carmel market, or the Levinsky market with its spice shops and family-run delis.
Good questions
How long is the food tour?
About two hours. It's a great way to start a Tel Aviv day, and easy to combine with the Tel Aviv-Jaffa tour.
Can you accommodate dietary needs?
Tell me in advance about vegetarian, kosher, allergy or other needs, and I'll plan the tastings around them.
Which days can we go?
The markets are at their best on weekday mornings and Friday mornings. Most stalls close for Shabbat, from Friday afternoon until Saturday night.
Is it filling?
Very. Come hungry, and plan a light dinner.
Is it good for kids?
Kids love it. There's always something sweet, and plenty of space to ask questions and taste at their own pace.
